The COOLJC Department of Education is led by a dedicated and diverse team of Apostolic educators, pastors, and business professionals committed to advancing Apostolic education across generations. Our leadership brings a blend of academic excellence, classroom experience, spiritual formation, and organizational leadership. From seasoned school administrators to passionate Sunday School teachers and missionaries, each member contributes unique gifts to strengthen doctrinal fidelity, develop curriculum, and equip leaders throughout the Church. Grounded in faith and driven by a shared vision, our staff works collaboratively to ensure that learning remains a life-long, Spirit-led process that empowers the Body of Christ.

Our Executive Team
District Elder Robert I. Thomas Jr.
Director of Education

Elder Robert I. Thomas Jr., a native of Queens, NY, is a seasoned educator and devoted servant-leader with over 30 years of experience in both public education and Christian ministry. He holds degrees from LaGuardia Community College, Queens College, and Adelphi University, and has also earned ministerial credentials from the Church of Christ Bible Institute and New York Theological Seminary. Ordained in 2000, he founded New Vision Ministries and later became the Senior Pastor of Greater Refuge Church of Christ South Ozone Park, NY, where he continues to lead with excellence and compassion. In addition to pastoring, he serves as Executive Secretary of the Tri-District Diocese of NY and contributes to the COOLJC International Board of Presbyters' educational efforts. Elder Thomas is known for his cross-generational preaching and unwavering commitment to Christian education, anchored by his life bible verse, Matthew 6:33 "... seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you". He is married to Lady Valerie M. Thomas and is the proud father of Maria and Robert III.
Minister Sean James
Chief of Staff

Minister Sean Isaiah James is a son of COOLJC and brings a wealth of spiritual and secular experience in economic development, protocol, operations, communications, marketing, and organizational leadership. He is the chief executive officer and founder of VSNWKS™ Consulting Firm. He undoubtedly offers strategic insight and a deep commitment to the "standard of excellence" in all he does.

Minister James has a unique ability to eloquently and authentically connect with and navigate people and cultures, “never meeting a stranger.” He has traveled and transacted business globally to countries such as Spain, Germany, Canada, and many Caribbean islands—immersing himself in the cultural exchange. His business acumen, passion for life, and desire to impact mankind for the glory of God continues to take him across the world.

As Chief of Staff for the COOLJC Department of Education, Minister James oversees day-to-day operations, ensuring alignment with the department’s vision, while advancing impactful, Spirit-led initiatives. His work reflects a passion for equipping leaders, building systems that serve the Body of Christ, and empowering the next generation of Apostolic believers.

Missionary Debra Thomas-Brown, B.A., M.Ed.
Senior Advisor to the Director

Missionary Debra N. Thomas-Brown a native of New York City is a devoted educator, church leader, and community servant whose life reflects a deep commitment to faith, family, and service. Her career spans from Wall Street to nearly 30 years in public education, where she served as a math teacher, dean, and assistant principal. She brings seasoned expertise and spiritual depth to every assignment she undertakes.

A lifelong member of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, Inc., she has served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher, choir director, missionary, and church administrator. Now retired and residing in Delaware, she continues to serve in both civic and ministry roles while cherishing time with her husband, Deacon Anthony Brown, their two sons, and three grandchildren.

Missionary Thomas-Brown remains active in both Greater Refuge Church of Christ in South Ozone Park, NY, and Greater Emmanuel Temple Church in Kennett Square, PA. She is known for her musical gifts, prayerful leadership, and unwavering dedication to the work of the Kingdom.
Missionary Dr. Shirley Stewart Ed. D.
Executive Regional Director

Dr. Shirley Anne Stewart is a lifelong educator, church worker, and community servant with more than three decades of experience in public education and Apostolic ministry. A native of Bridgeville, Delaware, she holds degrees from the University of Delaware, Temple University, and Wilmington University, including a Doctorate in Education with a focus on innovation and leadership. Dr. Stewart served 33.5 years in the Indian River School District as a teacher and administrator. She remains active in education equity and justice initiatives through the NAACP.
A dedicated member of COOLJC since receiving the Holy Ghost in 1977, Dr. Stewart has held numerous leadership roles across local, diocesan, and international levels—including Sunday School Superintendent, Missionary President, and Parliamentarian for the International Women’s Council. She currently worships at Greater Emmanuel Temple Church in Kennett Square, PA, where she continues to serve faithfully in Christian education and women's ministry.
